Ironhead Chopper Journey

The old 75 Sporty in and out of the boxes

In 1980 I bought a 1975 Harley Davidson Sportster and it soon became my favorite bike. There were many changes I wanted to make, (rake, molding, etc.), but never wanted the "down time". However, in 1984, during an oil change, I spotted some metal chunks and decided that it was time to for some engine work and therefore also the time to finally make those modifications I had been putting off. By the winter of 1984, the bike had been completely disassembled and, (after some major work was done on the frame), was stored away in boxes while family, divorce, bankrupsy... life went on and for 40 years the Sporty remained in boxes being lugged around from place to place waiting to be made whole again.

It was never forgotten and when I retired in 2022, with time on my hands, I finally got around to rebuilding it.
